Simple Song 02:30
I'll try to sing a simple song Simple song are what the people hum along I'll try to sing a simple song Simple songs ostensibly can never go wrong Some say stranger things have happened And temptation sure is strong To not just sing a simple song So I'll try to keep it short and sweet Short and sweets what they whistle, that's no surprise I'll demonstrate it can be done Done by one for one another, otherwise It might be what the doctor ordered So I'll try to keep out of my way And sing a simple song today Do-do-do-do-do Bap-da-da Dwee-dee-dee-dee I'll try to sing a simple song Simple songs were seldom easy for to long I'll try to sing it here for you Simple songs elude the seekers of the new, very true (No one ever said it was easy) I'm almost done my simple song Simple songs, if they are catchy, can be strong I hope I made it worth your while While I beg your pardon Hope this change of style made you smile

Where are you going and when will you come back again? They're calling for showers; it's already starting to rain (They're calling for showers; starting to rain) Feels like we just arrived, and now it's time to go I waited for hours and tried not to think of the pain So where are you going, will you ever come back again? (Where are you going? Please come back again) Mmm mmm, hmm mmm, hmm mmm, hmm mmm I don't know how I survived, and you'll just never know (How I survived, you won't know) Oooh.... Thinking about you, a mem'ry or thought in my brain I can't seem to recall, until I remember again (I can't seem to recall, remember again)

Returning 04:26
Better get over here
 Please don’t raise alarm
 Just like a doctor’s oath
Is first to do no harm
 Living a busy life
 Slowly can lose it’s charm
Now I’m considering
Returning to the farm Returning to the farm Soon things will be fine
 Turning into wine
 This is yours and mine
Though this might be a long journey to return If you’re stuck in some rat race
Surely you know the truth The lemmings, just like the rats
Have gotten long in the tooth (Woah-oh-oh)
I’d hate to learn too late
 From deep inside the tomb
On that final day we’re all
 Returning to the womb

Soon things will be fine (Things will be fine)
Flowing just like wine (Flows just like wine)
Tasting so divine (Tastes divine) As we head toward the unknown

I’m returning, truth be told
There’s no metaphor here to unfold
I’m just growing old

Something so refined (It’s so refined)
 Perfect by design (Perfect design)
Is that what we’ll find? (We’ll find)
I believe that we’ll have peace of mind
 Returning

Come in! Glad to have some company
Distant whistling means Bert’s making us some tea
What’s that, you say? "A flying monster!" Could it be an albatross?
But I only smelled some marinara sauce

I’m stealing that!
It doesn’t fit the music, but it fits the times
It doesn’t make much sense, at least it rhymes
If no one else is using this
, I’ll take it

I know how a genius pays the price
Well, that’s Albert and the big man shootin’ dice
And for the times, yes for all those times Where you haven’t got a clue
Rest assured, Doug said the answer’s forty-two

 Oh, by the way
I swear last night I saw Marie walk through the park
I couldn’t ask why she glowed in the dark
That’s far too impolite, and so
I faked it

I’ll steal that too!
It still don’t fit the music, but just have a drink
I realized I am, therefore I think
For Erwin has a pet that you won’t soon forget
And Max we all can thank, walking his Planck
If you still wonder what this means
Is this song much more than it seems?
I’ll take it

I know one and one is two But not according to you And I know E equals MC squared Somehow you just never cared Love my babe, she loves me too You can doubt, I know it's true Love my babe, yes, I said "love" That's one thing I'm sure of Penny saved is a penny earned That is something you never learned You fall for nearly every scam And still you don't give a damn Love my babe, she loves me too You can doubt, I know it's true Ingenue But my babe, she loves me good That can't be misunderstood Love my babe, yes, I said "love" She's the best thing, sure thing One thing I'm sure of And some say to each his own, yea On that we agree, but There are things you'll never know, never know I swear she's the best thing for me (She's my Vitamin D) Love my babe, she loves me too Wasting time, so now I won't listen to you She's the one thing that I'm certain of

When all else fails, here is what you all should do: Stop thinking that someday they'll make sense to you (Or vice-versa) Consider that they don't really care what's true What else can you do when all else fails you? You've got to find your passion, not just a mere distraction He was a fine fellow, now he can't find his elbow Maybe they did outsmart me: They're throwing a great big party This is where my heart is (ooh) This is what my head fin'ly said: "Can't take anymore!" This is what the truth is, oh yeah This is where my heart it Cant take anymore! When all fails just try once more You think if only you could just find the words It might make sense, just til now they've never heard (That's wishful thinking) I was like you, and to think I really cared So now I sing it, but do they get it? I'll tell you something funny: It ain't about the money So, fools, just keep your distance: they'll beat you with experience But can you hear it starting? They're throwing another party! This is where my heart is (ooh) This is what my head fin'ly said: "Can't take anymore!" (Not anymore) I know what the truth is, oh yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah This is where my heart it Cant take anymore! I'll tell you once more: When all else fails When all else fails When all else fails

The brush strokes of nostalgia Chilly morning, blue to white Impressions form suggestions Colors bleeding into night So please give my regards Show no pity Draw, then discard Chance: fifty-fifty You've got to be seen A grainy stock and silent image Lights your frame so noir Such tales of your assumptions Nevermore bid au revoir So you ride into town Like a potato Don't stick around Hasta luego! What did that just mean? The maestro cues the mid-life crisis Drenched in sweet discord Such tales of woe, they may be so Or maybe you're just bored An artist can paint what a poet can't write The vintner sends them both on flights Musicians living beyond their means But who's choreographing your dreams? Riding into town like a potato! Give my regards Draw, then discard Give my regards

Can you picture this, Hold it in your mind: Can you lose yourself in sound? With the words all gone And the message lost No meaning to be found? There are no words, no rhymes And no more curves or lines Gone the crooners, and their crimes But there’re no words, and no words can’t rhyme And it doesn't stop Where the stories end The narrative dissolves If you see the lights And the colors there Of the shapes that won't resolve There are no words, no rhymes Steady tempos, or times Modulations? They’re fine But there’re no words, and no words can’t rhyme Ah, there was a time, not too long ago
When is wasn’t such a deal breaker
But you say that you need a place to hang your hat
Might I suggest a hat rack maker? (I know a really good one, too) There are no words, no rhymes How I’ve wished that oftentimes Keep your nickels and dimes Not even one word, (and it) takes two words to rhyme

Can you picture this, Hold it in your mind? Were you with me all along? Lyrics disappear With one ironic touch: There wouldn’t be this song

The girl in number 5 has not paid the rent Has daddy sent the money? She said: "That's all been spent!" We're havin' a party, it's all on her head You're welcome to crash it 'cause she's goin' to bed I hear the clink of glass, of nothing to lose Bob and his crew are upstairs sniffing for clues How can they have cold feet if things are so hot? Why some hedge their bets while some rather not? Now it looks to me that things are just fine But is this the life that we planned for? I'm doin' my best, I'm movin' along (do-do-do-do-do-do-do) Or am I just foolin' myself in that things are just fine? They want to cruise the 'Ave, I'm OK to drive Next day we check to see if we're still alive Who blew the whistle? Who ruined the fun? When I heard the news that you got the blues another party's begun It still seems to me that things are just fine Keep drinking and dancing and laughing I cannot deny that things have been worse (only a shade of a doubt) I've learned if you make life a party then things are just fine
11.
Woke up this morning, was blue as a ruby Didn't you know that a ruby could be so blue Just to think of you as I do? Aquamarine could be red as the ocean (Aquamarine) Diamonds and sapphires are blacker than night (Blacker than night) This fool set his heart on you: false jewels I met a girl once who knew Portuguese She would sing more obscure lyrics than these I recognized but one word: "coração" The meaning was "heart," and though precious Hers was of stone I loved her even then Sambas were suddenly sadder Blue-blooded rubies were, too That summer was out of tune. (That summer, that summer, tune, tune.....) Woke the next morning, still blue as a ruby (Woke the next morning, blue as a ruby) Didn't you know the disowned blue ruby was me? (Ahh)

All I Know 05:15
How did I get mixed up with you? You're the heart now of all that I do When you find someone, there is only one Feel her living in me Had I one less kiss I might have just missed Love of this high degree But all I know is I'm not alone She gave me strength and together we've grown Oh, this is love, and I might have known But that's all I know I was all you could see in a glance Never thought that I stood half a chance When the money's gone, and there is no dawn And your friends tell you lies (Feels like you) lost your house and car, having come this far Then a little boy cries But all I know is I'm not alone She gave me strength and together we've grown Oh, this is love, and I might have known But that's all I know So when a man holds closely his girl And wonders what could he mean in her world Was she like me? This king felt so small Now I have it all I know that once I could give reasons why If someone had found me a way to get by Now I just know that I can't let her go That's all I know Yes all I know is I'm not alone She gives me strength and together we've grown Oh, this is love, and I might have known But that's all

about

About the Cover:

This "bluer-than-usual" cover art, which may seem a little cluttered and is certainly not as unfettered and transparent as I had originally imagined, holds numerical significance - and so therefore I hope is aesthetically significant as well - in two ways.

I had recently become aware of the challenge in math called "squaring the square" in which a square is divided up into smaller squares. There are an infinite number of ways to do this, but the challenge goes on to ask what such squares exist where all of the smaller squares are a DIFFERENT SIZE. Again, there are many solutions, but which solutions are the SMALLEST, meaning: what is the smallest square or fewest number of squares that can accomplish this. As it turns out the so-called "lowest-order perfect squared square" has an exterior of 112 units and is made up of 21 squares.

Although that one is my favorite considering aesthetic composition, there are three other SMALLER-sized squares, and it is one of those I used. All three have the dimensions of 110 x 110, but two of them have 22 squares in them and one has 23. I do not like the way the two with 22 squares look at all, each having to huge squares on the bottom and many small ones on top. That is why I picked the "smallest perfect squared square" with 23 squares in it. Why I chose this instead of the lowest-order one is the fact that the dimensions of 110 x 110 appealed to me. This was, after all, my 110th album (make of that what you will). It also occurred to me that I could fit the entire Greek alphabet into each of the 23 squares... and the omega symbol itself would fit into the entire square (there being 24 letters in the Greek alphabet). And so, from alpha to psi, each square got a different letter from smallest (1 x 1) to largest (44 x 44), with an omega superimposed over them all (110 x 110).

Each square was then assigned a different "web friendly" shade of blue*, where each letter is a darkened region in the square. (I subsequently darkened the interior 15 squares as they seemed to pop out too brightly.) Finally, within each letter there appears my face looking in different directions. Not all of this is immediately apparent, so I hope it is the sort of thing that reveals more the longer you look at it.

* The smallest "alpha" square is simply black lettering over white instead of blue, with no face superimposed as it is too small for such detail.
